Background Story: MALAYSIAN DIVING STAR SHARES HIS EXPERIENCES OF BEING SCAMMED AT SIM LIM SQUARE
Malaysian diving star, Ooi Tze Liang did worse than expected at Monday’s Singapore Final Diving Grand Prix 2014.
Ooi finished fifth in the men’s 3m springboard finals on Monday and his coaches explained that Ooi was probably feeling distracted and having difficulty focussing on the competition because he was scammed on the previous Friday.
Ooi had been scammed of over $2300 at Mobile Planet in Sim Lim Square when he had tried to purchase 2 iPhone 6s.
He had been quoted a price of $2,500 for the two phones but after signing a contract, he was slapped with the receipt that said the warranty package was another $2376.
The shop vendor then refused to give him the phones until he paid the contract price or he would have to pay $800 to cancel the contract.
In the end, Ooi paid over $4800 for the phones which should have cost only $2400+.
This scam had made him feel annoyed and frustrated and blaming himself for the folly.
His coaches explained that this weighed down on his mind and affected his performance at Monday’s diving finals.

商家设陷阱就不对了。
这种事警察管不到，真的无法修法律让他们的商业行为违法吗？

是走法律的漏洞，销售手法具有误导性，要如何定下法律标准应该不容易。
