In Colombia, the US government proved it could eradicate coca and opium-poppy growing fields. One of the solutions was an herbicide called Roundup. You may have heard of it.

The hookah acquired tombeik on its way through Persia. Tombeik is a dark tobacco grown in modern day Iran. Tombeik is rinsed and packed in the large older style heads where hot coal is applied directly to the wet tombeik, which gives it a strong flavor. These heads and style of hookah, referred to as "ghelune" in Persian [more], are available on our web site. The hookahs designed in the Persian Empire are still hand crafted with each one being cut from a piece of wood. In the 19th century, cigarettes were made easily available and mostly women smoked the ghelune because they were not on the go. Women used the ghelune in the home for entertaining and as a past time.


When the hookah made its way into Turkey [map] about 500 years ago, it endured a surge of popularity among the upper class and intellectuals and thus changing in design. The hookah grew in size and complexity and became similar to designs that we are more familiar with today. Brass and glass were added to the design and less wood was used. It is also know as the hubble bubble in Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates. Today, hookah bars are social places where many people get together to discuss politics and local events. 水煙館重現似吸鴉片


斜躺臥榻吞雲吐霧、享受煙霧帶來的快感……這種在十九世紀常見的場景，近日重現江蘇蘇州。當地一間水煙館近日開張，提供水果味水煙讓顧客躺在臥榻上吸食，每次收費四十元，開業以來生意勁旺，尤其深受年輕一代歡迎。館方聲稱這種阿拉伯水煙幾乎不含尼古丁，對人體無害。但外界則批評吸水煙情形猶如吸鴉片，有助長吸煙風氣之虞。當地工商部門則指，該店並未對水煙項目進行註冊，將派人調查。


該水煙館位於蘇州古城區平江路，店內放置多張供顧客吸食水煙的臥榻。臥榻的小几上，放置各種色彩斑斕的煙具，造型別致。這些煙具高約半米，由頂部的煙絲托盤、中部的通道、底部的過濾瓶和煙管煙嘴組成。只要將煙泥放入頂部托盤，並用錫紙包好，再壓上一小塊燒熱的炭便可吸食，每次收費四十元，一次可吸食一小時左右。

本月十五日，孫興和莫少聰因涉嫌吸毒被北京公安高調拘捕，事後更將二人被捕和盤問過程公諸於世。有傳僅飲了「加料」飲料的莫少聰將於周五（廿九日）獲釋，至於自爆沉淪毒海五年的孫興，因涉嫌吸毒、藏毒、提供毒品及製毒等嚴重罪行，最高可被判死刑。

斷正的孫興，為求甩身，主動向公安供出為數約三十名吸毒港星的名單，內有拆家資料和毒品來源，當中更牽涉紅透中港台的巨星，包括「風流男星」、「性格影后」、「已婚影帝」、「情歌王子」等。

據知北京公安是次嚴打娛圈毒風，將逐一對付名冊內藝人；搞到不少北上發展、有毒癮的港星人人自危，全都返港暫避鋒頭。

自十五日因涉毒而被北京公安拘留多日的孫興，有機會判最高刑罰死刑。全程合作的他，不惜大爆圈中吸毒名冊，即令娛圈人心惶惶。

涉吸毒的莫少聰雖則罪名較輕，但形象盡毀，前途凍過水。

其实,世界各国对吸毒都是刑罚很重的, 唯有死刑可以制止.

泰國[编辑]

泰國對於涉及毒品的一切犯罪，皆採取超嚴厲刑罰，有數十名台灣人誤碰不明物品，後被查出為毒品後，被判處二十年以上的徒刑、無期徒刑，甚至死刑。2009年處死的兩名罪犯即此罪名

馬來西亞[编辑]

根據馬來西亞毒品條列第39B，任何人販運毒品（如海洛因、嗎啡、鴉片等。）如被定罪係唯一死刑，以繯首死刑方式執行。

新加坡[编辑]

根據現行新加坡法律第一百八十五章，未經許可而進、出口多於15克的海洛英，或製造任何數量之海洛英者，一經定罪會一律被判處死刑。

中华人民共和国[编辑]

中华人民共和国制定《禁毒法》，為中國毒品防制的規範，但內文未直接規定法定刑，僅有"构成犯罪的，依法追究刑事责任"及拘留、罰鍰(行政罰款)。

中华人民共和国毒品犯罪的刑罰規範，規定於刑法第三百四十七条至第三百五十七条中，對於鸦片、海洛因等危害較為嚴重的烈性毒品，最重可處死刑。对于不同的毒品，可以判死刑的标准亦不相同，具体为鸦片1000克以上、海洛因或者甲基苯丙胺50克以上、苯丙胺类毒品（甲基苯丙胺除外）100克以上、大麻油5千克、大麻脂10千克、大麻叶及大麻烟150千克以上、可卡因50克以上、吗啡100克以上、杜冷丁250十克以上、盐酸二氢埃托啡10毫克以上、咖啡因200千克以上、罂粟壳200千克以上。
