Supermarket chain operator Sheng Siong Group has announced a 10.2% y-o-y increase in revenue to $637.3 million for FY2012.

The increase came from the opening of new stores, an increase in same-store sales and a one-off gain of $10.5 million from the sale of its old Marsiling warehouse.

Earnings rose 52.9% y-o-y to $41.7 million.

The board has proposed a final dividend of 1.75 cents a share, bringing total dividend for the year to 2.75 cents a share, which works out to a 90% payout ratio.

Dairy Farm's (D01.SG) retreat from Singapore's budget grocery segment by rebranding its 57 Shop n Save stores into Giant hypermarket stores highlights Sheng Siong's (OV8.SG) competitive positioning in the space, CIMB says.

"Re-branding as the more popular Giant brand seems a desperate attempt to gain consumer acceptance" among predominately Mandarin-speaking budget customers who likely identify better with Sheng Siong's brand, it says, noting Giant competes more on the breadth of offerings, rather than price. It upgrades Sheng Siong to Outperform from Neutral on its dominant positioning in the budget segment.

"The beauty of a low-margin strategy is that it is improbable a new entrant can muscle in by undercutting price." It raises Sheng Siong's target to $0.75 from $0.59 based on 23x 2014 P/E vs 18x previously, now at a 5% discount to Dairy Farm vs the previous 20%.

It tips catalysts to come from earnings delivery from Sheng Siong's new stores and its continued store expansion. Sheng Siong shares are up 1.6% at $0.655; Dairy Farm is down 3.5% at US$11.43.

昇菘集团(Sheng Siong Group)报其截至2013年3月31日的第一季核心盈利从800万元上升至1,050万元，年比增幅为31.3%，主要是因收入及毛利率提高。然而，在把1Q12非核心项目(包括脱售一座旧货仓而一次过取得的1,050万元收益及为上一年的税务所作的160万元拨备)纳入考量后，净利从1Q12的1,680万元下滑37.6%至1,050万元。截至2013年第一季，公司的现金与现金等值物为1亿2,310万元，去年同期为1亿4,910万元，这主要是由于支付员工花红的时机不同。公司保持无负债(截至2013年3月31日)。

启示：公司预计未来将会面对人力及投入资源成本的压力。食品通胀可能也会令投入资源成本增加，因为食品价格容易受到供应突然中断(由天气、疾病及其他无法预见的事件引起)所影响。不过，公司对其服务大众的超市业务感到审慎乐观，它认为其超市业务在面临这些挑战下应可保持稳健。

Population growth, store expansion, margin improvement and e-commerce will be Sheng Siong’s key growth drivers going forward, says DBS Vickers analyst Alfie Yeo in a DBSVO Clarity email blast.

Sheng Siong plans to expand its store network to 50 as Singapore’s population projected to increase to 6.9 million by 2030. Management believes that it can increase its network intensity further in the northern eastern and central parts of Singapore.

“We also see margins improving going forward on better operational efficiencies and cost management. Margin expansion will come from better product mix of fresh vs dry food, increasing contribution of house brands,more direct purchasing and bulk handling initiatives,” says Yeo.

Sheng Siong has also completed the framework for e-commerce and is due to roll out a pilot test soon. “We believe this can be a game changer for both SSG (better profitability) and consumers (time saver) alike as the pace of life in Singapore intensifies,” says Yeo.

Finally, Sheng Siong is also a beneficiary of rising interest rates, says Yeo. A 1% rise in interest rates will raise Sheng Siong’s earnings by 3%.

“We like Sheng Siong for its stable earnings base, consistent dividend payout and yield of 4.0%. Sheng Siong currently trades at 22.4x FY13F PE, with an attractive ROE of 27.3%. Maintain BUY for a 15% upside to our revised TP of $0.78, which is based on 25x blended FY13F/FY14F earnings,” says Yeo.

N yr 前买进0.385. 最近好不容易才脱手0.63 小赚点儿.

再问下 这位大大 有买CHINAＥＮＶ．５ＯＵ吗？股价会再上冲吗？

我不是什么大哥。。。
SSG 我不会ta 所以他的support point我不知道在哪里
可是根据最近的走势 如果要他下回0.60 是很难的
所以。。。 我打算半年收取盈利
所以在最高点买进了 不过其实我要在0.68的 只是那时候心急了一下 所以进了0.69
这一只 我是多数用感觉的 哈哈哈

重点retailer 在年尾比较有看头
现在第一个是马来年。。。

charting的话14MA在50MA的上面
现在只是差炒家进来而已 呵呵

Sheng Siong Group, one of the largest supermarket chains in Singapore, registered a 20.8% year-on-year increase in net profit to $8.5 million for the second quarter ended 30 June 2013 (2Q2013) mainly led by higher revenue and better gross profit margin.

Revenue increased 8.7% yoy to $159.8 million for 2Q2013, largely because of the increased contribution from new stores of $20.1 million. This was partially weighed down by a contraction in comparable same store sales of $7.3 million.

Competition, declining sales in the group’s old stores in matured HDB estates and building and renovation works affecting certain stores were the main reasons for the lower comparable same store sales.

The group’s Bedok Central and The Verge stores suffered from ongoing construction works in the vicinity; while one of the stores at Ang Mo Kio was closed for about a month for major renovation. Comparable same store sales declined by 1.8%, excluding the impact of stores affected by building and renovation works.

In 2Q2013, administrative expenses increased by $2.5 million yoy to $26.3 million, as a result of additional headcount and higher store count relating to the expansion of supermarket operations. Despite the start-up of 8 new stores in 2012 and cost pressures, the group maintained administrative expenses at 16.5% of revenues for 2Q2013, representing only a 0.3 percentage point increase from 2Q2012.
