Chelsea complete another stunning signing by bringing in Hulk from Porto
It’s official. Chelsea has all but signed in the prodigal Brazilian winger known as Hulk. Just 48 hours after signing the Belgian wonder kid Eden Hazard, the London club has reached an agreement to sign in the services of the Porto forward, Hulk.
It is understood that Chelsea is giving away £40 million to Porto in return for Hulk. This is a big signing for the Champions League winners, who just a couple of days ago acquired the bragging rights for Eden Hazard.
The 21-year-old attacking midfielder, Eden Hazard ended weeks of speculation by snubbing transfer offers to Manchester City, Manchester United and Arsenal. By acquiring Hulk, Chelsea can now boast about one of the strongest teams in the English Premier League.
Givanildo Vieira de Souze, aka Hulk, is considered to be one of the best forwards in Europe. The 25-year-old has been in impeccable form in the last three seasons for Porto. In the last two seasons alone, Hulk has scored 57 goals and provided 36 assists in the 91 appearances.
The strong, versatile, left-footed forward looks like a perfect replacement for Didier Drogba, who has decided to end his successful Chelsea career with a move to the Chinese side Shanghai Shenhua.
It’s been a year since Chelsea expressed desire to sign in Hulk. The London club tried to bring him to Stamford Bridge last season but Porto announced £80 million buyout clause for Hulk. The amount seemed outrageous to Chelsea therefore the attempts to sign him in were abandoned. Nonetheless, negotiations began once again this summer and with Chelsea’s Champions League victory there was little doubt left where Hulk would go.
Porto can keep Hulk with them for another year, but they wouldn’t risk losing him for free to another club next summer. Hulk is expected to see a massive increase in his salary. Sources have revealed that Hulk will be presented with a weekly wage of £120,000 at Chelsea.
Chelsea’s next transfer target is Marko Marin. Werder Bremen has put the 23-year-old Germany international on the football market with a price tag £6.5 million. Marko Marin has the exceptional talent of playing anywhere in the attack.
Marko Marin can play on both wings or as a central winger of midfielder. The youngster can even play as a second striker. Chelsea is expected to conclude these three signings as soon as the summer transfer window opens.
