THINKING of adding a new pair of jeans to your wardrobe? Levi’s Copper Jeans has a new collection that’s rich with heritage.
It captures the spirit of the Gold Rush era and updates it with a fresh design concept that will define denim wear this year. Think meticulous craftsmanship, bold copper accents, leather details and vintage finishing.
Short history lesson. It was tough being a miner during the Gold Rush. To stand up to the wear and tear, jeans had to be tougher. To make sure his favourite pair of Levi's withstood the test of time, tailor Jacob Davis strengthened them with copper rivets in pocket corners and stress points, 11 in all.
 The result? Long-lasting jeans that are both sturdy and stylish. The discovery was patented and copper rivets have remained a Levi's trademark since.
"We believe that Levi's Copper Jeans have the potential to become one of the hottest things to happen in denim wear in Asia," says Anitha Narayanan, Levi's brand leader. "We believe in preserving the best of our heritage while evolving with our consumers, and at the same time creating the trend and demand that makes us the authority in denim wear."
She said this at the recent launch of the Levi's Copper Collection held at the Laundry Bar at The Curve. The event saw celebrities, models and dancers in jeans, skirts, T-shirts, shirts and jackets from the collection. To complete the look, there were watches and belts to choose from.
The key silhouette for both men and women is the Carrot/Low Crotch Slim Fit. The three other silhouettes for men are Slim, Regular Straight and Loose Straight. For women, there's Boy Fit (just like a regular straight for men), Boot Cut, Skinny Skinny, Slim Straight and Low Crotch Cropped. The line for women also includes mini skirts and A-line skirts.
The Levi's Copper Collection is available at participating Levi's shops from March with prices from RM139 for tops and RM239 for jeans.
